RWS Entertainment Group is currently seeking a full-time Director, Accounting professional to manage all our key day-to-day accounting functions including GL, billing and collections, accounts payable, accounting close and reconciliation processes, and financial reporting.

Salary Range: Estimated annual exempt base salary $100,000 depending on experience.

*Salary based on living in the Tri-State area (NY/NJ/CT)

Status: Remote 

  • Travel to NYC occasionally required as needed

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the key accounting processes surrounding the revenue cycle, including contract review and compliance, technical interpretation of client invoicing and payment requirements, working with RWS project teams to ensure timely data collection to support accurate invoicing, adjustments, and revenue accruals.
  • Management of all accounts receivable, credit and collections of the company, to maximize cash flow and minimize working capital needs. Ensure timely and proactive follow-up with clients for any late payments, and actively coordinate with operational departments to quickly resolve any late payment or inaccurate invoicing issues.
  • Management of the vendor and independent contractor accounts payable/payment processes, to ensure timely and accurate payment of all invoices for goods and services. Includes timely and accurate maintenance of the vendor master file data, as well as timely completion of related tax filings (e.g. annual 1099s).
  • Preparation and/or review of daily, weekly, and monthly general ledger entries and balance sheet account reconciliations. Maintenance of the NetSuite general ledger for all affiliated companies, intercompany transactions, and consolidations.
  • Management of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close and reporting process, including preparation and review of closing entries and activities while ensuring that all accounting data are complete, accurate and recorded on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for preparation and maintenance of all accounting and reporting process documentation and flowcharts, for use in educating operational team members and outside accountants/auditors, as well as training new staff.  Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and lead execution and communication of all positive changes.
  • Preparation and/or review of all external auditor requests for information, quarterly and year-end financial disclosure deliverables to external financing and other partners, and special projects as assigned by the AVP Finance, SVP Administration, or the CFO.
  • Proactively establish and actively maintain positive communication and working relationships with all other departments including but not limited to marketing/ business development, production, creative, and other administrative support departments to ensure the seamless flow of information and support needed to perform all responsibilities.

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting and a minimum five years of experience in public and/or corporate accounting with some prior supervisory experience required.
  • Licensed CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Entertainment industry experience is preferred but not required.
  • Financial systems experience, ideally Oracle NetSuite, along with AP and expense report cloud software solutions (e.g., Expensify).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 tools required, and familiarity with remote work applications Microsoft Teams, Wrike, etc. strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to maintain effectiveness under changing circumstances and priorities in a fast-growth environment.
  • Desire and ability to understand the business at an operational level is critical, along with the capacity to grow with the company and adapt to an increasingly complex environment.

A valid passport for the duration of employment for all travel-related roles. Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (or proof of exemption) will be required.
