JOB OVERVIEW 
As a Technical Director for our Land Production team, your role is dynamic and requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for creating immersive and unforgettable experiences for our clients. Reporting to the Director, Technical Implementation, this role is classified as mobile and will have primary responsibility for Legoland Florida (LLFR), focused on serving as the lead technical overseeing live entertainment and holiday/seasonal technical installations at LLFR.
Responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and execution of technical projects from concept to completion. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including creative designers, engineers, fabricators, theme park operations, and vendors to ensure all projects and installations are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Serve as the primary entertainment technical lead overseeing all entertainment and holiday/seasonal installations at LEGOLAND Florida Resort (LLFR).
  • Partner with the project team throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept design through installation, strike, and debrief.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, outlining tasks, timelines, resource requirements, and site logistics for LLFR installations and other assigned projects.
  • Must have good audio, visual and lighting knowledge for entertainment productions shows, and theme park setups.
  • Oversee both on-site implementation at LLFR and off-site pre-fabrication/preparation of assigned projects.
  • Manage project budgets, review fund allocation for external resources, and coordinate budget modifications as needed.
  • Provide initial cost ranges for preliminary design components.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Leadership Team in developing and maintaining project P&Ls.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for internal teams, client leadership, and venue stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and clear alignment with creative vision and technical requirements.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams—including talent and recruitment, designers, technical directors, theme park ops, and subcontractors—to ensure seamless project integration.
  • Identify potential technical and operational risks in project delivery and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Locate key suppliers, negotiate purchasing agreements, and ensure materials and products meet company and venue specifications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, structural/technical drawings, and change orders.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations and debriefs to identify areas for improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise the work of Technicians, Vendors and park technical staff as needed, including planning, assigning, and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing their productivity.  
  • Define roles and responsibilities of the team and determine clear deliverables 
  • Responsible for the training and supervision of all staff to ensure proper adherence to all venue and company HSE policies and procedures and to all Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations 
  • Responsible for the management of seasonal employees onsite for the duration of the project/event and managing payroll. 
  • Ensure artistic creative intent, character integrity, and intellectual property parameters are consistently upheld.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Project Management, AV, Construction, or similar experience in themed entertainment or live experience industry 
  • Proven experience as a Technical Director in themed entertainment or related industry 
  • Proven experience in all areas of AV - installation and operation
  • Proven experience with using AV control equipment and playback systems
  • Proven experience in sourcing and procurement for projects 
  • History of strong project management skills and leading teams onsite
  • Strong budget management of small- and large-scale technical projects
  • Strong client relationship skills
  • Strong verbally and written skills, particularly related to entertainment technical communications
  • Strong CAD / Vectorworks Skills
  • Programming and system design experience desired
  • General Theatre / Theme Park background desired
  • Knowledge of Christmas Decor installations desired
  • Understanding of basic carpentry and installation desirable
  • OSHA certified desirable

Work Environment: While on-site at Legoland Florida (LLFR), frequent exposure to unfavorable conditions such as inclement weather, working in back of house areas with very tight quarters, exposure to various environments including storage spaces, construction zones and guest facing areas. Because of the time constraints of most of the department’s projects, the Technical Director will often be on-site and working in hot/humid, varying temperatures indicative of the Florida climate, rain, and drizzle conditions. Other project work may involve exposure to cold, snow, wind and other cold-climate conditions. In-Office time will be required as per company policy when not in conflict with project demands.

Physical Effort: Minimal – Physical effort represented by frequent handling of heavy objects (approx. 50- 
75 lbs.) and materials, or heavy hand tools. While on-site the Technical Director frequently operates heavy equipment and heavy hand tools. Standing for long periods of time, but often kneeling, bending, working at height well over 50 feet. While in-office, physical effort is light. 

Hazards: Frequent potential hazards while onsite make a focus on safety a top priority. There will be regular exposure to: working at heights over 50 feet, working in and around heavy equipment, exposure to chemicals and regular use of cutting tools such as saws and grinders. 

Licensure or Certifications
•    A Valid driver’s license and Passport are required
•    Licenses to operate mobile boom lifts, telehandlers and other machinery is preferred.
